Originally a chain restaurant brand in Japan, Wagokoro Tonkatsu Anzu Ginza signed a cooperation contract with La Kaffa International Co., Ltd. in 2013 to operate in Taiwan. In order for La Kaffa to reward the company’s outstanding employees, increase efficiency and service quality, La Kaffa selects employees each quarter and supervisors cast votes to award outstanding employees with a “Star of La Kaffa” medal. This time, the winner of the “Star of La Kaffa” is Sun Jia-Ling, an outstanding student from the Industrial Management Department’s dual system flagship training program of Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology (CHUST).
In recent years, CHUST has actively shaped itself into an employment-oriented university and has cooperated with the Ministry of Labor to promote the “Dual System Flagship Training Program” with success. The program integrates industry and school resources, allowing students to participate in internships outside of school for a minimum of 3 days a week to make progress in both practice and theory. In addition to students gaining practical experiences, the program can also reduce the differences between school education and workplace skills. Students that are part of this program not only enjoy subsidies for tuition, but the companies employing the students will also provide subsidies to greatly reduce students’ financial burden. Student that have passing marks at the end of their training period may obtain an official diploma issued by the Ministry of Education and a training certificate jointly issued by the Ministry of Labor and the respective business institutes.
Jia-Ling, the student intern who won the award, originally had a shy personality and her initial performance at Wagokoro Tonkatsu Anzu Ginza did not stand out. However, Jia-Ling put in more effort than others as she diligently learned to be a waitress. After a year, she has become an independent waitress that greets customers with a smile and actively helps new colleagues. Her actions have gained praise and left deep impressions on customers and supervisors alike.
It is worth mentioning that she is capable of remembering the preferences of returning customers and can quickly prepare the meals they wish to enjoy. La Kaffa hopes that this award will not only encourage Jia-Ling’s performance, but that the entire team will be influenced by this wave of positive energy and use her as a model.
